Concert

Let’s face it: odds are you aren’t going to get to see Modest Mouse tomorrow night. That’s just not in the cards for you. You probably don’t have the money to buy scalped tickets on eBay; you probably don’t have friends who happened to be in Iowa City on the day the tickets went on sale; you probably haven’t heard of Modest Mouse; and you probably don’t live anywhere near Iowa City.
That sucks. For you. I will be there.
I will hear Isaac Brock sing “3rd Planet” or “Dark Center of the Universe” or “Never Ending Math Equation” or “Teeth Like God’s Shoeshine.” I will dance and sing along. I will talk to cool, attractive people about deep and interesting things. And when I’m not singing along or talking, I will smile.
But no smiles for you. You won’t be there. You will be at your computer, reading this blog. Or, if you’re lucky, you’ll catch some Must See TV before starting on your homework. You won’t be attending a Radiohead concert tomorrow night — and probably not Les Savy Fav, either — so the absolute best case scenario for you is that you’ll get to see a show that isn’t quite as good as a Modest Mouse show. I, on the other hand, will see Modest Mouse.

“There’s always someone cooler than you.” You don’t get that reference. So there.
