The Life of a Concert Critic
By Chase on May 17, 2005 in Quick Hits
In the past month, I have seen Cake, Gomez, and Robbers on High Street; Built to Spill, Mike Johnson, and Hockey Night; the Books; Rilo Kiley, Neva Dinova, and Tilly and the Wall; and Prefuse 73. I’m on a budget, so I bought only the t-shirts necessary to maintain street-credibility (Prefuse 73 was most necessary).
My review of the Virgin College Mega Tour (featuring Cake et. al.) went up on PopMatters today. Read it here.

that’s very impressive, except that really, you don’t have to be a concert critic to see all those bands, you just have to live in Grinnell (minus rilo kiley). And just to be obnoxious I’ll say that I have seen two non grinnell shows in the past semester, although I skipped cake. And I’m just a girl, not a concert critic.

Yeah, I’ve actually seen a decent number of non-Grinnell shows in the last semester. That was just the past month, and there were a few shows I wanted to see that I couldn’t get to because of school work (like Of Montreal and Tilly in Des Moines). I guess I’m not as glamorous as I think I am, and stuff.
