“I Ain’t Clamin’ To Reign”

“Let’s talk about rhyme capability
Let’s talk about hip hop versatility
Let’s talk about taking the game beyond
Now how the hell we gon have a battle of wits
Trick you ain’t armed
Let’s talk about love for the game
I mean real love
Back before there was fame
I’m real wit it
I ain’t claiming to reign
But when ya’ll talk about rap
Ya’ll gon start saying my name”

Yeah, I actually really like Will Smith’s new record, Lost and Found, but I think this snippet from the title track illustrates the subtle tension in much of the record. (Another example: Big Will mocks “Dropppppp It Like It’s Hottttttttt” in one song, and Snoop himself guests on a different track.)
Still a good record, though, as I’ve been saying forever. And now that my blog has been around long enough, I can say this publicly without losing all of my cred! Hopefully!
