Saul Williams Is Not The Name Of A Country And Western Singer
By Chase on Sep 4, 2005 in Pop Culture
Tonight I saw Saul Williams, who was pretty good. That’s him on the right.
I was exposed to him in two ways before the show: (1) his written poetry, which was pretty fucking sweet, and (2) his self-titled album, which wasn’t all that and a bag of chips. I saw him in concert (that is, music, not just talking poetry), and he was superb. Whatever problems I had with his record seemed less problematic on stage, where his spoken word interludes seemed to fit quite correctly. And I agreed with what he said about, you know, things. He did better than even Kanye did, although Kanye did good, too.
So, to Saul Williams: you’re doing a good job. And to Saul’s DJ (DJ CXKIDTRONIK?): you were fun, too. And to the Culture Room: I can’t believe you exist in South Florida.
