Stephen Malkmus…JICKY JICKY JICKY

Stephen Malkmus

So Monday night was an illustrious night, when an illustrious venue in an illustruious city in the illustrious nation of Europe filled illustriously with illustrious music — Like Whoa. I can’t give away all of “the secrets” here (yet), because PopMatters owns it. That said, here’s the abstract of my forthcoming review:

Stephen Malkmus is good. The venue, Ancienne Belgique, is a palace with amenities. Beer at Ancienne Belgique costs two euros. Stella Artois, the greatest beer in the world, is the house beer. The Cribs opened and sounded like Leeds’s answer to “Hash Pipe” and Saves The Day, but they were still kind of good. The crowd was awesome. Stephen Malkmus spoke a few words of broken Dutch and a few more words of broken French. I drank a lot of two euro Stellas. I got lost getting back to the Brussels train station for nearly an hour, and had to ask for directions in French. The area around the Brussels Central train station is apparently not a good area to walk around alone at night, but I was fine. The show was good?
