Embarassing guy, Diplo, and MIA

Well, you all probably can predict that I am not as big a fan of M.I.A. as almost everyone else. And, although I’m a big fan of Diplo, I don’t hate M.I.A. simply out of jealousy. Part of why I don’t like her is jealousy maybe, but mostly it’s that Arular was overhyped and bad.

Unlike Arular, though, the somewhat-newly-released-but-actually-pretty-old Piracy Funds Terrorism Volume I mixtape by M.I.A. and Diplo together is pretty good.

The fact that Piracy Funds Terrorism notwithstanding, here are two tracks:

  1. 1. There is definitely a reason that the album was as popular as it was. It’s accessible, energetic, and catchy as fuck. I don’t disagree that it was overhyped (the poster in FYE was a bit much, certainly), but it’s a good album, overall.

  2. Er, now it just sounds like I’m against advertising in general, which I’m not. The poster touted her as the “next big thing” or something. It was a stupid poster. Just take my word for it.
