Anything you can do, I can do “meta”

Friedrich NietzscheI am a deadbeat blogger. It’s sometimes embarassing, but so is being an active blogger, so I get over it.

That said, this blog is going to get fresh content at least about once a week from now on. It might not be really creative, awe-inspiring content, but it will be content. I’ll be posting to update you, my loyal reader, when my writing appears elsewhere. There will be links. In the weekly “Chase Martyn Digests,” I’ll also probably post random snippets about music, myself, job prospects, etc. It’ll be fun!

So here is your Chase Martyn Digest for the week of 11 March:

  • I have been writing for IowaProgress, the Iowa Politics blog I founded over a year ago. Most recently, I wrote on the indictment of a gay Democratic State Senator for corruption charges:

When (gay) Democratic State Senator Matt McCoy was indicted for allegedly using his elected position to “extort” a $2,000 consulting fee from a company he was working for, it made us look pretty bad. But Yepsen digs deeper and actually comes up with something interesting: it turns out that Matt Whitaker, the US Attorney prosecuting McCoy, is a homophobic Republican crony.

  • I have mostly finished an update to ChaseMartyn.com, the web site designed to make you want to hire me.
  • I redesigned PeruseMe.com, and I have begun three new blogs, which you’ll hear about more later.

You’ll notice a few (minor) changes to the layout here, as well. I have better integrated Google ads into the design in hopes of increasing click-through rate ($$$) a bit, and I have upgraded the version of Wordpress running behind the scenes. Please give me comments.

In general this web site seems to get quite a bit of traffic for a personal site without any updates, and it seems like a waste not to update it periodically, because people are actually reading. (Most hits to this site come from search engines, but still…)

So that’s it for now. Please check back as I expand the scope of this site to better reflect my changing personal interests. You’ll enjoy it, and so will I.
