With Friends Like These, Who Needs a Campaign Manager?

Today’s breaking news story was a real humdinger out of Plymouth County in Northwest Iowa.  The epicenter of it all is the metropolis of Le Mars, Plymouth County seat, as John McCain announced that nine people in that fair city (and FOUR MORE movers and shakers in greater Plymouth County) are now signing on to support his campaign.  And you know they’re savvy political operatives because, unlike most Americans, they woke up one morning in the past week or so and said to themselves, “Boy, today sounds like a good day to publicly endorse John McCain.”  You can’t buy this kind of political expertise — which is lucky, considering McCain has less money than Ron Paul.

But to prove that his cash-on-hand problem isn’t forcing him to limit the number of meaningless titles he hands out, he has bestowed the honor of “county chair” on not one… not two… but THREE Plymouth County Politicos:

Plymouth County Leadership Team
Ralph Klemme, Le Mars Honorary County Chair
Jim Truemper, Merrill County Chair
Earl Draayer, Le Mars County Co-Chair

So, to review all the news that matters today according to the McCain campaign, national campaign manager, chief strategist, and Iowa campaign manager are out, but Ralph Klemme, Jim Truemper, and Earl Draayer will pick up the slack.

In real news, it sounds like McCain’s newly appointed replacement Iowa campaign manager might leave as fast as he came.
