Conservative Iowa Blogger Embarrassed To Have ‘Iowa’ In His Domain Name

If you hadn’t heard, French Fries are now Freedom Fries and Iowa Voice is now the Liberty Pundit.

And I’m not really accusing Brian and our other conservative friends at that site of hating our state, but come on.  You blog about national politics, and you think having Iowa in your name is a bad thing right now?

If I didn’t live in Iowa and market myself as an Iowa blogger, nobody would care what I have to say.  Having Iowa in the domain names of many of the sites I have worked on has been a boost to our credibility, not a problem for it.

  1. I’m not ashamed of Iowa…in fact, I wrote a post just the other day that says I wasn’t, and it got a lot of attention (http://www.iowavoice.com/2007/08/13/underestimating-iowa).

The only reason I went to a new site was from a marketing perspective: people see “Iowa” in the name and think we’re ABOUT Iowa, and we’re not. And apparently, it’s worked just fine…traffic has been pretty good for a first day.
