RUMOR: Top Clinton Staffer in Iowa Fired
By Chase on Sep 14, 2007 in Hillary Clinton, Iowa Caucuses
Word on the street is that Angelique Pirozzi, who runs Sen. Hillary Cilnton’s Iowa field program, has been asked to leave the campaign. You heard it here first.
I’ve emailed the Clinton campaign for comment, and I will report their response here. In the meantime, one guess for the reason might be the bad press that this story generated, although the story alone would not probably warrant firing anyone.

You might want to look into how Ms. Pirozzi got canned from a major league casino campaign in Rhode Island last year. Seems she has a history of selling herself as competent, then in midstream all involved see her for what she is — an incompetent girl who hires her friends and makes lots of errors.

Ms Pirozzi is a very well regarded political professional with a 13 year track record of winning, particularly in Iowa. I know I worked with her on two campaigns. She was Caucus Manager and GOTV Director for Kerry in Iowa ‘04 and Deputy Caucus Manager for Gore ‘00 and we know how those Iowa campaigns turned out. Her departure from Iowa for Clinton was their loss.
