Messages of the Week: “Middle Class Express,” “Take a Stand,” “Judgment and Experience,” and “Results Matter”

Sen. Barack Obama is traveling through Iowa for four days this week on his “Judgment and Experience” tour. Former Sen. John Edwards launches his 17-county “Take a Stand” tour today. Sen. Hillary Clinton launches her “Middle Class Express” bus trip tomorrow. Sen. Chris Dodd will host “Results Matter” town hall meetings this weekend. Meanwhile, Gov. Bill Richardson will host two more “Presidential Job Interviews” tomorrow.
The hokey names that campaigns use to describe their events may not have much of an impact on caucus results, but they are worth paying attention to, because they are clear distillations of each campaign’s preferred framing. Except for the Obama campaign, which continues to play into Clinton’s framing instead of promoting its own.
