Richardson Stays Serious

I wrote a piece over the weekend on Iowa Independent with the headline “Richardson Gets Serious.” Today, Gov. Bill Richardson’s presidential campaign continues their theme of seriousness in a new TV ad, set to air in Iowa and New Hampshire.

The 60-second ad, entitled “Only One,” highlights a trip Richardson made to Iraq to rescue hostages, with interviews with actual hostages and family members:

The highlights: “He’s the only one that was willing to leave his family — his wife — behind. Travel to a dangerous section of the world, for two men he didn’t even know.”

“Here’s this big guy. He is a pretty big guy. And he’s got a heart as big as he is. One of the kindest guys — you know — just so nice to us.”
