How Clinton Could Lose Iowa — Crotchety Edition

John Beaudoin, who runs the Woodbine Twiner newspaper (calling the paper’s circulation “small” would probably be an overstatement), penned an opinion piece criticizing Sen. Hillary Clinton on essentially the same grounds as my commentary from last week. He begins, “The signs are in your yard. You wear the ‘Hillary ‘08′ buttons. But do you really know her message?”

Quoth the Twiner:

Hillary Clinton’s ‘handlers’ have told me time and again she will ‘eventually’ grant me the privilege to interview her. And time and again, that has not happened.

Just last week, her Iowa press contact - former Tom Vilsack-for-President-turned-Hillary-Clinton-supporter Stephanie Bjornson asked me to attend an event Hillary was hosting in Carroll.

With my Saturday commitments in Harrison County, I was unable to attend. I was hopeful that phone call could lead to a phone interview with the 2008 Presidential candidate.

It was not to be. I was told Hillary Clinton is simply too busy with her day job to grant me 10 minutes over the phone.

Much to my amazement, I found out that she certainly could have found 10 minutes for the voters of Harrison County at some point in the last four months.

According to the Washington Post, since July 30 Hillary Clinton has missed 42 votes in the U.S. Congress. That’s right. Forty-two votes.

Beaudoin concludes by publishing his phone number, in case Clinton doesn’t have it.
